This was only my second time hanging out at the Ukiah Skatepark. It was a really beautiful, fun day and it was really heartwarming witnessing this group of people genuinely enjoying each other's company while celebrating a 13th birthday. It was like a big extended family.
While I have always enjoyed taking photos, I think this experience was one of the things that really sparked my current interest in photography, especially action shots. I was definitely bitten by the photography bug as a result of this day and it helped me make the decision to upgrade my camera and gear. While I can see a lot of mistakes, I've learned a lot from those mistakes. I like to believe I'm getting better the more I practice, and that new camera helps too.
Two years later I'm still blown away whenever I watch people skating. I'm always in awe of the things they can do, especially since I probably couldn't even stand on a board let alone skate.
I just don't understand how they do it . . . It's like magic to me.
Skaters are wizards
