Snow in Ukiah is a rare occurrence. Seems like it happens about once a decade and even then it's rare that much of it sticks to the ground. So when it snowed today it felt like a festive occasion and I was excited, happy, full of wonder, wishing I had the day off to wander around and take photos. I am grateful to have captured a few shots at the beginning and end of the day.
When I got up in the morning I was glad to see the roads were snow free and not icy so I could drive to work safely. I was kind of disappointed that by early afternoon most of the snow on grass and rocks and trees had melted. However, I had not considered the possibility that it would snow later in the afternoon and stick. By the time I left work at 6pm it had snowed again and this time it had stuck to the roads.
Soooooo, I was today-years-old the first time I ever drove in snow. Luckily I live pretty close to my office and there wasn't much traffic so I could go really slow. Backing up my driveway and into my garage was an adventure but I did it all by myself and felt pretty accomplished.
