My beautiful friend Laurie took me to Montgomery Woods today. Even though I've lived in Ukiah all my life (except the couple of years I was in college) this was my first visit. I was so excited to finally go and see the beauty of the woods and the trees that I have heard so much about for so many years. It did not disappoint and I will DEFINITELY be going again. To say that I loved it would be a massive understatement. I was in awe of the beauty, the quiet, the majesty, the peace, the calm. The feeling of being among such ancient living things was magical and humbling. When we got back to town I almost felt weird returning to regular life again. I can't wait to go back, hopefully when the ground has dried out a little so I can hike further. I am so lucky to live so close to such beauty and to be blessed with a wonderful friend who was willing and excited to take me and share my first experience with me.
