Day 2 ~ Sunday July 23, 2023

At sea on our way from Seattle, Washington to our first port at Juneau, Alaska. I woke up to no cell service because of course during the night we had sailed out of range of all towers. While I should have expected this, it was not something I had thought about even once. At first it was disconcerting (What if my house sitter was trying to contact me? Would I be out of range during the coming week when my office might try to reach me?) After a bit I accepted there was nothing I could do about it, everyone on board was out of range, so I just relaxed and enjoyed the incredible views and fresh air. It didn't take too long to realize I was truly enjoying the peace of being fully unplugged. After a day or two I did get connected to the ship's wi-fi, and we did have cell service when in port, but even then I discovered I wasn't all that interested in being plugged in and preferred to continue enjoying my mostly disconnected state. 

Highlight of the day: sitting on the back of Lido Deck 16 listening to music, taking photos of the ocean, the sky, the mountains, basking in the sea air. Total bliss.
